Readings for 11/17

For the readings for Thursday, it is about building a social life in college. If you were introverted in high school, which is quiet and liked to be by yourself, you have to be more outgoing in college. When you move into college you have to talk to a lot of people in your classes and dorm buildings if you live on campus. You should keep your door open in your dorm room so anyone can come and say hi. Instead of studying alone, have a study group. It’s a great way to meet new people. You have to get involved on campus. There are so many clubs out there to join and it’s a great way to be involved and make new friends with similar interests. Even if you aren’t into sports, go with a group of friends to show your school spirit. There are many job opportunities on campus. You won’t only get experience but you will be earning some money! If you are interested in Sororities and Fraternities, it is a great way to meet a group of people who you’ll be apart of brotherhood/sisterhood. But, with having a social life, you have to have a balance between that and school. It’s better to do your schoolwork in the library. There are fewer temptations in a library and it’s a great way to escape for a little while and really focus on your studies. If you are struggling with your classes, get help! There are so many tutoring centers that are there to help you. Don’t wait until the last minute. Go when you know you need extra help. There are so many things to get involved in with college. You have to just go out there and get out of your element. College is about taking chances and there are so many chances out there.
